Do not choose your wedding photographer based on price.
There are two traps waiting for you if you did decided to choose a photographer - or indeed any product or service based upon price. Firstly, "Oh, I wouldn't choose them they are too cheap!" Do you think a full time professional photographer working from home has the same overheads as the same photographer working from a town centre studio? Of course not! I used to have such a studio and my monthly overheads were at least £3000. Who do you think had to pay for those costs? That's right - the clients. Can you see now how a photographer of the same standard, offering exactly the same packages, can be cheaper? We like to say better value for money!
IMPORTANT - We are talking professional versus professional. It is important to check that if one of your short listed photographers does work from home - they are still full-time professionals. ie. They dont have another job and they dont take wedding pictures "as a hobby".
Conversley - the second, "Wow, their prices are too expensive!" - Believe it or not "most" people associate good quality with high prices. But this isn't always the case. And more importantly most photographers WILL give you discounts based on:
1. The day of the week you are getting married.
2. The time of year you are getting married.
3. The amount of coverage you require at your wedding
4. If your wedding pictures will enhance their portfolio.
5. If you are nice!
So please choose your photographer not based on price, but on their quality, the range of wedding albums, their professional status, how well you get on with them.
If you choose the wrong wedding cake, no one will know once its sliced up and eaten. Should you choose the wrong wedding car company, once youre at the reception venue it wont matter. But if you choose the wrong husband, wife or photographer - the consequences will be with you for the rest of your lives.
